How to Personalize your Blog!

One word, Canva !!!  Yes, Canva  is a splendid tool to help you brand your blog like a Texas Longhorn πŸ˜€.  No seriously, Canva has the tools that's needed to give your blog personalization.  The great thing is that Canva has a FREE or paid subscription.  You know me, I blog FRUGALLY!  The paid subscription of course has more capabilities.  So either way it's a win-win. I've always watched my sister time and time again create beautiful logos and exquisite eBooks all with Canva. I didn't see a need for it until I started blogging. Even so, it took me a while to get my creative juices flowing.  You know unless you give someone your vision and allow them to create it for you, blogging really becomes a process.  Branding didn't come naturally for me.  What I mean is, blogging has many facets to it. You have to acquire skills you never used before aside from developing content. It can get out of control quickly. No worries.

Canva is a site that allows you to create graphic designs for whatever you are doing. Canva also has tutorials in the tab that says learning. I've always told myself that I wanted to learn more about graphic design. With Canva I learn something new everytime I create a design. Here's a quick video on branding:
    "What is Branding"
First, Canva  is great for creating your logo. I say logo first because, it's your stamp, your signature so to speak.  Then your logo becomes the center of other things you make. In Canva you can make Facebook covers, Instagram posts, posters, brochures, and much more.  All you have to do is incorporate your logo in the graphic designs you make. And there, you've started the branding process.
Truthfully, I'm still learning and on my journey but its all coming together. Honestly, when I started blogging I had content but my branding was a hot mess.  So now I'm backtracking and putting my stamp on everything I create from here on out.
Speaking of backtracking, Canva must of known that I would be changing my products often because, with Canva you really can.  So I had already created tons of content for my blog but it was all over the place but when I decided on my logo all had to was edit them in Canva. So the links I placed in my blog from Canva simply updated automatically.  I didn't have to go back in my layout and reinsert links.  Canvas did it for me.😍
Here's some things I updated in Canva but now with some brand personalization.

Jazz up your Blog!!!

I know it's been a while since my last post. Life happens sometimes. Nevertheless, I am back with a great way to jazz up that blog.  I have only been blogging since January but boy have I learned a lot; mostly through trial and error.  Have you ever looked at someone else's blog and wondered how everything matches? Well they either pay for it or they create it themselves.  You know my blog is called Blog FRUGALLY, so creativity is much obliged here.  Don't think twice about it or tell yourself how tech-deficient you are. No, just give yourself a try.

Personalization
One way to jazz up your blog is to add some personality. Your personality silly.  I added some self made share buttons to match my blog as well as some tab icons to match my blog. Also, I went a little crazy with my BitmojiπŸ˜πŸ˜‹.  I have multiple blogs  so I had a little challenge.  Change is good. I mean you wouldn't wear the same attire everyday or eat the same dinner every night. So you can jazz up that blog!  Put your stamp on it. I wanted my blog to say me all over it. Face it, if you don't like how your blog looks then you probably want make it a priority. If you don't see value in it then no one else will.  Like I said earlier, I have two blogs and here are some icons I created myself:

You can even click on the links below to see how everything looks together.

Are you convinced yet and would like to give it a try? If so, here's what you will need:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • www.flicker.com (photo sharing site)
  • self made icon images or clip art images
  • Bitmoji (if you're into that) You must add it as an extension to your web browser.
  • Time & patience
So here is a video of how to create  and ad your share buttons to your blogger site. This video is very extensive but super easy. Good Luck!!!
P.S. Have fun jazzzzzzing up your blog!!!

Dream Big!!!!

Business and entrepreneurship has always been in my blood but I was very shy and introverted.  Sales for me had started back when I was a little girl. My mom would bake homemade goods and my sisters and I would go about the neighborhood and sell it. We would always sell everything and have a sense of achievement when we went back home. Later in my life I sold health and wellness products and currently I am a Mary Kay consultant. I am now a blogger and I love it because, writing is truly one of my talents that I enjoy. Blogging has drawn me to whole new group of people that have  a whole different mindset. I see so much creativity in others and it's actually an inspiration.

A woman that I am really inspired by is Madame C.J. Walker. What really inspired me was how she always DREAMED BIG! and how she expanded her company simply from ideas in her dreams.  She had a why, a cause, and a calling to help women manage their hair. She was basically expanding her business during a recession/depression.  This was a difficult time in America but she DREAMED BIG!!!! When everyone around her could not understand her vision and dreams, she did not let it stop her.

So, I take her tenacity and drive to DREAM BIG!!! We all have a Why?, a solution to a problem in our society, and a plan to change the world. It all lies in our ability to DREAM BIG!!!!  It may take research: a hypothesis, tests, and idea after idea. All that's left to do is DREAM BIG!!!
Finally, five things I learned  from Madame C. J. Walker is this:
1. She discovered a cause she was passionate about.
2. She wanted to help everyone she could.
3. She created.
4. She took action.
5. She DREAMED BIG!!!!!!

Lessons and Blessings in Chaos

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, many of us are presented with time we never had before. When my principal brought the staff together for a 5 minute meeting on a Friday, I was so relieved.  I thought finally I have a break from it all. I know this sounds selfish but it was how I felt in the moment. It was like, ok there's a little epidemic out there. I thought it would be over in a few weeks and life will go back to normal. Well a whole month went by and still this silent killer is claiming so many lives.  I don't think I have even stopped to process what is really happening.
I know that there are so many lessons around me now that I have had the chance to slow down.   I'm now able to focus on things that I didn't have time or energy to give.  My family, ministry, relationships, and blogging, have all been on the back burner or slowly fading away until now. My life has been turned upside down but for the better; I think. My priorities have changed and they really needed a change because, I have forgotten how to live in the moment. Things were robotic in a sense, prior to COVID. My daily schedule went a little like this:

  • wake-up
  • get dressed
  • get children ready
  • drop children to school
  • drive 30 minutes to work
  • Work from 7:40 to 3:30
  • Pickup children
  • homework
  • dinner
  • watch some TV
  • Go to bed
What's really crazy is that this cycle continued day in,  day out, week after week, month after month, and year after year. Then a pandemic comes in and knocks this rigorous routine down like a bowling ball to some pins.  This has all made me come to one conclusion; "What really matters?"
What really matters is this, love, peace of mind, mended relationships, flexibility, new ideas, creativity, a positive outlook, and my all-saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Yes a relationship with the father because, I have to draw strength from somewhere. God is my source and my help through his loving son Jesus Christ. I love leading my PRAY Group and drawing strength from others because, we're stronger together in a time when we cannot meet.  In summary, I don't want to get caught up in this season that I miss the lessons and blessings.

Don't Let Social Media Consume You!

There are many ways to drive traffic to your blog but sometimes it gets so time-consuming. I don't know about you, but I'm a mother, teacher, entrepreneur, and a great deal more. Time is always of the essence and I learned a way to maximize it and make it work for me. I will show you how in 4 steps.

    1. First I decide what I want to say on my Facebook Business Page. I usually plan 1 or 2 posts each week. I like to plan what I want to say for the entire month using simple phrases and hashtags that represents my brand.

    2. Second, I go to a site called www.pixaby.com to find stock photos that compliment my brand. I saved them to my computer. I use pixaby for two reasons: it's free and the photos can be used for commercial use. I download several photos from Pixaby at a time so putting it altogether is a sinch.
    3. Next, dear you must download the Pic Collage App. I use Pic Collage to create beautiful stock like photos that represent my brand. I usually add the photos from Pixaby as a background in my Pic Collage. Then I save it to my computer.
     4. Next, I simply go to my Facebook Page and I click on Publishing Tools. There you can click CREATE to create a new post and add your hashtags. This is the trick; instead of publishing instantly, click the drop down arrow that says Share Now and click on Schedule. Set the date and time you want to share the post and click Schedule. Schedule as many as you like so that you have time to other things.

Need more follows?

I don't know about you, but it made perfect sense to create social media pages that link back to or are associated with my blogs.  Again the key word is EXPOSURE!  I knew I needed more shares so I got share buttons to social media from a platform called ShareThis. I have details on how to set that up in my Ebook, How to Create a Blog Frugally.  Well did you know there is another FREE platform called AddThis that will allow viewers to follow you on your Instagram, Facebook page, Pinterest, Youtube and more.  Yes it's called  AddThis. AddThis connects people to content and enables marketers to develop more personal and effective relationships with their current and future customers.  Your followers love being connected to a brand and that connection will build a relationship with your followers.
Over the past 10 years, millions of sites have adopted AddThis to increase social sharing and improve engagement.  Using AddThis to connect from your blog or store to a personalized business page on social media is exactly what consumers want.  Think about it. My favorite brand is connected to me on social media and I can get updates on sales, promotions, and new products. It's brilliant.
I'll sum it up in two words AI (Audience Intelligence). AddThis is an Audience Intelligence platform which means that it studies your audience's behaviors. As a result, AddThis offers unparalleled insight into the interests and behaviors of over billions of web visitors.  What are you waiting for? Get AddThis for your blog.
